Rose Hack 2021 is UCR's women-centric hackathon where students from all backgrounds are celebrated. Hundreds of participants form teams and build a project over the event's 24 hour duration.
Rose Hack is beginner friendly and welcomes all participants to learn, develop, and hone their skills. Have you ever wanted to learn how to build something, but didn't know where to start? We will provide everything you need from swag, mentoring, and a diverse range of workshops to help you level up your hacking experience.

Submitting to this hackathon could earn you:
Eligibility
- Participants: High school or university undergraduate students
- Teams: Team sizes are capped at 4 members, but any team with 1-4 members is welcome.
Requirements
- All submissions must be created from scratch and completed before the submission deadline.
- A recorded demo submission, in addition to a live demo, is required.
- It is the participant's responsibility to enter a Devpost submission on time and opt in to judging criteria categories.

Judging Criteria

Beginner Hack
For your hack to qualify as a Beginner Hack, Rose Hack must be the first hackathon a majority of your team has attended (ex. 3 of 4, or 2 of 3) -
Women Centric Hack
Your project must empower, celebrate, and/or support women in some shape or form. -
UI/UX
The project has a clean and easy-to-use interface built with a user in mind. Overall design and clarity will be considered. -
Game Hack
The project must be a playable game. Projects will generally be judged based on overall game design and implementation. -
Best Domain Registered with Domain.com
Register a .tech, .space, or .online domain name using Domain.com during the weekend. Each team may submit one entry per person on the team. -
Best use of Google Cloud
Build your hackathon project with a suite of secure storage, powerful compute, and integrated data analytics products provided by Google Cloud. See full list of products here: g.co/cloud. -
Best Hardware Hack Sponsored by Digi-Key
